Laurent Delaunay, fifth-generation winemaker and oenologist of Maison Edouard Delaunay
Hong Kong — Bonhams announces a landmark collaboration with esteemed Burgundy producer Edouard Delaunay for its first-ever ex-cellar auction, Jubilant Revival in Burgundy: Maison Edouard Delaunay Ex-Domaine – Finest & Rarest Wines, running online from 5 to 27 November 2025. This exclusive sale will feature 68 exceptional lots, including wines that have never been released before — and in some cases, will never be produced again.
THE PHOENIX RISES: THE RENAISSANCE OF A HISTORIC BURGUNDY HOUSE
Founded in 1893, Edouard Delaunay built a reputation for the exceptional quality of its wines, helping to shape Burgundy's international prestige for nearly a century. In 2017, Laurent Delaunay, a fifth-generation winemaker and oenologist, reclaimed the family estate and began its revival, earning it the nickname "The Phoenix Brand". Since then, the estate has undergone a remarkable renaissance, receiving over 700 international ratings above 90 points within eight years.
From its base in Nuits-Saint-Georges and the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, Edouard Delaunay produces wines that reflect the unique character of Burgundy's most esteemed terroirs. This commitment to terroir-driven winemaking and meticulous craftsmanship has earned the winery numerous international accolades, including being named Red Winemaker of the Year three times (2020, 2022, 2024) and White Winemaker of the Year in 2021 by the prestigious International Wine Challenge (IWC).
"This is the first time we are offering such exclusive wines from our private cellar," said Laurent Delaunay, President of Edouard Delaunay. "These exceptional bottles, some of which are truly irreplaceable, have never left our family's cellars until now. We are delighted to partner with Bonhams, whose reputation for excellence ensures these treasures will find their rightful place in the world's most discerning collections."
RARE BURGUNDIES WITH PRISTINE PROVENANCE
This ex-cellar auction offers an exceptional array of rare verticals, large-format bottles, and exclusive cuvées, all sourced directly from the Delaunay family's private cellar. A notable sale highlight is an exceptional lot, estimated at HK$280,000–360,000, featuring a selection of wines in various bottle sizes, all sourced from a single barrel of Vougeot Premier Cru Les Cras 2023. The lot includes 1 Salmanazar (9L), 12 Jeroboams (3L), 36 Magnums (1.5L), and 120 bottles (750ml). Additionally, the buyer will have the exclusive opportunity to personalise the wine labels.
