Our annual summer auction offers an array of exciting works by renowned American artists. From 19th and early 20th century works by Thomas Doughty, George Inness, Edward Redfield and Jane Peterson to modernist and mid-20th century works by Marsden Hartley, Ralph Fasanella, Guy Pène Du Bois and William Zorach to contemporary works by Paul Resika, Stephen Scott Young, and Ernie Barnes, this sale has something for every collector. The auction is led by two vibrant landscapes by Bob Ross, remembered and beloved by millions of viewers of his instructional television show, The Joy of Painting. Each landscape offered exemplifies Ross' mastery of the wet-on-wet technique and beautifully depicts his iconic mountains, lakes, snow and log cabins both imagined and inspired from his years stationed in Alaska while serving under the United States Air Force.
