Our American Art auction celebrates the nation's rich artistic legacy, spanning centuries and genres—from idyllic 19th-century pastoral scenes to atmospheric 20th-century seascapes. With a special focus on New England artists, this sale highlights paintings that evoke a profound sense of place, shaped by the land and rooted in enduring traditions.

Featuring works such as the luminous still lifes of Levi Wells Prentice, whose depictions of nature's bounty capture both the beauty and transience of the harvest, alongside Impressionistic landscapes, exemplified by Robert Reid's Stony Pasture and Andrew Wyeth's evocative watercolour of the wild Maine coastline, this collection offers a tribute to the region's diverse geography and people. These works are not only love letters to New England's natural splendour but also reflections on the industrial and socioeconomic transformations that began in the 19th century and continue to influence the region today.

Alongside Hudson River School landscapes, Luminist seascapes, and Academic genre scenes are works by members of the Rockport Art Association, exemplified by an early Spring view of Cape Ann by William Lester Stevens, and paintings by Boston artists, including Arthur Clifton Godwin's Boston Public Garden in Winter, depicting one of his favourite subjects - a crowded urban park, painted in animated brush strokes and vivid light, masterfully conveying the joy and energy of a snowy, sunny Boston day.

Amongst numerous 20th- and 21st-century masters, there are watercolours by the Cape Cod naturalist Robert Verity Clem and a modern, intimate 'portrait' of a farmhouse by Scott Prior, member of the Valley Realists group.
