A lacquer suzuribako

Taisho (1912-26)/early Showa era (1926-1989)
The cover with a woven basket façade set off by a green lacquer rim embellished with gold lacquer fern motifs, the interior cover executed in gold and silver takamaki-e with huts on a wind-swept rocky shore, the dwellings shaded by a verdant blossoming cherry under a full moon, the interior liner and brush compartment continuing the decoration and housing a set of two brushes fude, a small sword tousu and small awl kiri, an ink stick sumi and water dropper suiteki, with tomobako.
