A Buddhist Celestial
Ink and color on silk, framed, depicting a male celestial, possibly the Historical Buddha Sakyamuni, wearing brocade robes and seated in padmasana, his hair in curls to denote his foreign nationality, in his hands a ruyi scepter, above him a canopy decorated with flaming jewels and pearls amid colorful clouds, underneath his seat a crouching celestial animal, and in the background a rocky landscape with bamboo and white magnolia blossoms.
