A Painted Pottery Figure of Horse and Rider

Northern Wei Dynasty
Modelled as a horse standing on a rectangular plinth, its body painted in carmine and black pigments, mounted by a rider in long robes atop a saddle, the rider holding a drum against the neck of the steed.
9 1/2in (24.1cm) high

The dating of this lot is consistent with the result of a thermoluminescence test, Oxford Authentication Ltd., no. 566h43.
