A large Chinese Imari charger

18th century
The shallow rounded sides rising to a flat everted rim, the interior centered with a 'flower urn' medallion radiating four blue-ground gilt-decorated hourglass-shaped spokes each enclosing a pair of reserved iron-red pomegranates, between the spokes four shaped 'flower garden' panels with details picked out in iron red, gilt, and green and aubergine enamels, the rim with alternating panels of flowerheads and diaper ground, the exterior of the cavetto with a band of foliate scroll, the base with four characters in underglaze blue reading Fu gui chang chun and five small spur marks.
18 5/8in (47.3cm) diam.
