A large Yangshao painted pottery jar
Neolithic period
The wide-angled conical lower body rising to just above the midpoint of the vessel and then sweeping inward to form a domed shoulder under the flaring rim, a pair of loop handles applied just under the shoulder, the upper body painted with a swirling motif in black and red slip, further slip-painted designs on either side of the neck.
