A Satsuma-style enameled 'figural' bowl

Meiji era (1868-1912)
Depicting a gathering of samurai, ladies and attendants at an elaborate shrine festively decorated with banners and lanterns rendered in brilliant enamels and gilt at the cavetto under a band of cavorting dragons at the rim, the underside decorated with medallions of bijin in a landscape enclosed on a gilt wave-patterned ground, the base with a gilt kiri mon cartouche.

7 1/4in (18.4cm) diam.
