A Dehua figure of Guanyin

Republic period
Seated in 'royal ease' with the proper left arm drawn in front of the chest holding a scepter, the loose robes falling in folds over the body and opening to reveal a necklace at the chest, the oval face with a serene expression and downcast eyes, the hair pulled into a high chignon save for three long tresses falling over each shoulder, the back impressed with a square 'fisherman' mark reading Boji yuren ('Virtue extends to all, even to fishermen').
