A lady's embroidered silk vest, Xiapi
Late Qing/Republic period
Altered from a larger garment, the black silk ground worked in colorful silk flosses and gilt threads, embroidered with a flower-filled lappet band around the neck and various birds along the edges of the vest amongst clouds surrounding a pair of dragons in the front, the back with a single front-facing dragon above celestial mountains, rolling waves and a lishui border (altered, lacking badge and tassles, staining).
