A gilt lacquered wood figure of the multi-armed Avalokiteshvara
Late Qing/Republic period
The Bodhisattva seated in lotus position on an elevated plinth decorated with lotus petals and shou medallions, her primary arms in namaskaramudra above an additional pair held in dhyanamudra in her lap supporting a jewel, flanked by two groups of arms flaring out holding separately carved attributes to either side below two taller arms held aloft holding the moon and the sun discs (cracks, flaking, losses to lacquer and attributes, replacements).
