Wen Qiqiu, who used the courtesy name Youju, sobriquet Yushi shanren, was a native of Shunde, Guangzhou province. Wen Qiqiu's bird and flower painting followed the mogu style of Yun Shouping (1633-1690). Later on, he broadened his subjects to landscape and figure paintings. Working together with other local artists, he also organized a Chinese painting research group in Guangzhou.
