款識：丙申（1956）中秋，獨清先生命其哲嗣志平世兄從余遊。先以畫梅入手，逐日課以一圖，積久成冊，計二十四葉，可作初學之津梁焉。丁酉（1957）秋，冷月識。

上款:「志平」即周志平 (1939-)，號秋水，齋名「秋水軒」，上海人，畢業於上海師範學院。家學淵源，父周濁，號獨清，酷愛詩詞書畫，收藏甚豐，其中不乏陶冷月精品。冷月亦好詩文，常來周氏「獨清樓」雅集，因見周家兄妹喜畫，乃收為入室弟子。初從畫梅始，一年後才學山水。此冊即志平拜師一年後，得師所贈課徒稿。陶氏云「逐日課以一圖，積久成冊」，則此冊費時數週，可謂極盡用心。冷月畫梅，特重寫生，常不懼嚴寒，踏遍粱溪梅園、鄧尉香雪海、滄浪亭可園，留下寫生稿數千張。得吳昌碩欣賞，並以他畫梅專用印「明月前身」相贈。本冊雙面，共計二十四開，各開構圖務求新穎，佈局務求別緻，純施水墨，卻達五色斑斕之效，足以為後世「初學之津梁」，洵可寶也。
