For conspicuous gallantry. He went over the paparet twice in broad daylight and brought in wounded men from "No Man's Land".
Second Lieutenant Leslie Johnston serves overseas with the 14th London Regiment from the 15th September 1914 and is commissioned into the Worcestershire Regiment on 2.9.1915. He died of wounds on the 25th July 1916, aged 26, and is remembered at the Merville Comunal Cemetery. He was the son of David A.Johnston of 17 Bellvue Crescent, Edinburgh.
