Lieutenant Gordon Woodruff Hawkins was originally from Surbiton, he enlisted into the 7th Australian Light Horse at Liverpool NSW. He served at Gallipoli from May 1915. He then served with 244 Squadron R.A.F. and then the Border Regiment.

He lived at Linden House, Riverhead, Kent.
