A black, iron red and gilt-painted stick-neck vase
Kangxi mark, Republic period
The long neck and rounded shoulder encircled with elaborate diaper bands, descending lappets and ascending leaf patterns rendered in same gilt and inky black enamels used for an audience scene of officials approaching the emperor and his court with shades of iron red highlighting their elaborate costumes, a worn inscription on the reverse bearing the cyclical date ren-shen (1932), the recessed base bearing a four-character mark in iron red and gilt.
