A rare transmutation red glazed fanghu
Xianfeng six-character mark and of the period
Of rectangular section with indented corners to the rim and neck supporting a pair of rectangular lug handles, the body flaring outward above a tall foot and molded with raised peaches on the opposing faces, the glaze layer displaying opaque reddish-blue areas streaked with sky blue and thinning to a translucent olive green with dense craze lines, the mark incised in regular script to deeply recessed base where the glaze has fired to a dark buff color.
