A pair of powder blue ground archaistic vases with gilt decoration
Qianlong marks, Late Qing/Republic period
Each molded in the shape of a bronze zun with a waisted neck, raised rib on the shoulder and a pair of animal head and mock-ring handles on the ovoid body, the rich blue ground painted in gilt with auspicious bats, shou-characters and composite flower heads issuing from leafy tendrils while geometric diaper bands extend around the shoulder and tall foot, the shallowly recessed base bearing the six-character mark in underglaze blue seal script on a cobalt ground.
