A rare anhua-decorated white bowl

Kangxi six-character mark and of the period
Finely finished with a wide curving well raised on a tall, tapered foot, the exterior walls delicately incised with two dragons chasing a flaming pearl, the deeply recessed base displaying the mark in underglaze blue regular script and all surfaces except the narrow foot pad covered with the lustrous, celadon-tinged glaze.

For a similar anhua-decorated bowl, Kangxi mark and period, see Chinese Antiquities from the Brian S. McElney Collection, 1987, no. 96, p. 142 (as 8cm high, compared to 7.7cm height of this lot). A second bowl with similar decoration, underglaze blue Kangxi mark and of the period, sold in Christie's, New York, sale 1976, 19 March 2008, lot 658 (as 6 1/4in, 16.9cm).
