A carved russet and yellow jade snuff bottle

1750-1850
Of rounded rectangular form with a short cylindrical neck, flat lip, irregular-shaped foot ring conforming the natural contour of the stone, carved in relief through the opaque russet layer in the stone on one side depicting a sage and his attendant standing under a pine at the garden of a palace, with a river meandering under a bridge, the reverse mostly uncarved, to accentuate the attractive greenish-yellow stone with paler cloud-form inclusions.
