A white nephrite snuff bottle

1780-1850
Well-hollowed, of elongated tapering form supported on a spreading oval foot, very subtly waisted neck, flat lip, crisply carved with two faux lion mask-and-ring handles at the shoulders and conforming reserves on each side, one depicting a scholar playing the flute as he sits on rocks under a gnarled pine, the other of a seated male figure in a similar setting; the evenly-hued white stone with a very faint celadon tinge, marked with oatmeal-like inclusions.
