A black overlaid on white glass snuff bottle

1780-1850
Of compressed globular form with a cylindrical neck, flat lip, the applied black overlay creating an intriguing silhouette effect on a milky ground, sensitively carved around the walls with exquisite details to portray an elderly scholar and his assistant carrying a qin as they cross a bridge to visit a scholar on the reverse, seated by a desk near an open window of a house in the shade of a pine issuing behind pierced rocks while his servant prepares tea in the courtyard, all above the well-finished oval foot rim.
2 3/8in (6cm) high
