A shadow agate snuff bottle
1750-1860
Well-hollowed, of rounded square form with a cylindrical neck, gently recessed lip, fine oval foot ring, the dark brown inclusions in the translucent gray stone cleverly worked, depicting the silhouette image of a boy holding a large lotus branch within a thumb-sized indentation to one side, the natural inclusions on the reverse and one of the narrow sides worked to resemble a piece of floating lotus leaf and fish.
