A rectangular woven silk brocade velvet kang cover

Late Qing/Republic period
Woven in two long sections and joined at the middle to create a central medallion of four interlaced peony flowers with trailing leafy tendrils woven in deep magenta, gray-blue and silvery metallic threads on the dark mustard yellow velvet ground that continue in the narrow band of dissolved dragons formed by squared C-scrolls and the larger band along the edges filled with rampant dragons chasing flaming pearls; the reverse lined with dark yellow cotton.
