An unusual cast bronze hu-form vase

Ming dynasty
Elegantly cast and raised on a wide oval base set off by a finely worked band of wave patterns below a low-slung belly, the tapered neck cast with an whimsical abstract taotie mask rendered with fine lines and elongated spiral bands and set between two lion mask handles, the surface burnished with a reddish-umber patina.
