A cast bronze censer

17th/18th century
Of bombé form, the low-set belly tapering gracefully inward to an everted rim and set with two lion-mask handles to either side, cast with a sixteen character kaishu inscription reading Da Ming Xuande wunian jiandugo bu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao (made in the fifth year of Xuande by the Board of Works under Wu Bangzuo) on the inside of the concave base.
