A yellow and russet jade carving of a recumbent buffalo

Late Qing/Republic period
The yellow stone with patches of russet staining and grayish inclusions, finely carved as a recumbent buffalo with smiling face and curving horns, the ridged spine leading over the russet haunches to the tail spreading over the hind legs tucked underneath the body.
