A group of four white and celadon jade plaques
19th century and later
Each of rounded rectangular form convex contour: the largest of rounded rectangular form and pale yellow-green jade, carved in high relief with a caparisoned elephant supporting a flower vase, reversed by three pairs of raised drill holes on the roughly finished concave surface; the second of pale gray-green hue, thinly sectioned and carved in high relief with a butterfly hovering over a chrysanthemum spray in bloom near a garden rock; the third of horizontal format, the thinly sectioned off-white matrix deftly carved in relief with bats in flight above blossoming branches and a garden rock, reversed by two pairs of raised drill holes for attachment to another surface; the last of similar form but vertical format and pale greenish-white, carved as a bird flying above lotus plants in bloom and reversed by a pair of raised drill holes for attachment to another surface.
3 1/4 x 3 3/4in (8.4 x 9.5cm) the elephant plaque
