A group of eight jade belt hooks and plaques
Late Qing/Republic period
Including three belt hooks of pale gray-green hue, each similarly carved with drill holes through the jaw of the dragon-head hook facing a deeply undercut qilong on the curving handle reversed by an oval button; the fourth a belt hook of pale greenish-white hue with cloudy white inclusions, carved in high relief with a qilong on the handle facing the dragon-head hook and reversed with an oval button; the fifth a dragon-headed belt hook with a swelling spatulate handle reversed by an oval button, the matrix of fairly uniform pale gray-green; the sixth a rectangular sectioned belt slide carved in low relief with a xuangxi character fronting an undercut rectangular flange terminating in an oval loop, the pale greenish-white matrix marked with cloudy white inclusions and a hairline fissure; the seventh a pale greenish-white belt slide of rectangular section, deeply undercut on the front as a gourd vine with leafy tendrils and on the reverse with a rectangular flange terminating in an oval loop; the eighth a rectangular belt buckle without decoration, thinly sectioned and undercut on the reverse with a rectangular loop and oval hook the pale gray-green matrix with cloudy white inclusions and tiny russet-stained fissure lines.
