A greenish-white jade 'mythical bird' vase
19th century
Crisply carved as a baluster vase with archaistic lappets incised beneath a band of medallions on the neck, the vase supported on the back of an archaistic mythical bird with head held proudly aloft and a spout carved from its upturned beak, the neck encircled by a similar band of archaistic medallions and the wings with a stylized animal head, the boldly stylized tail feathers sweeping upwards beside the vase and downwards between the clawed feet, the softly gleaming stone with some cloudy inclusions.
6in (15.2cm) high
