A silk and metallic thread-woven rug

Late Qing/Republic period
Woven in shades of gold, blue, red and ivory against a metallic-woven ground with square flower-head reserves separated by smaller flower-heads, surrounded by bands filled with archaistic dragons and peony flowers, the top woven with five characters reading 'Hou qing gong yuyong' (for imperial use in the hou qing palace), finished with braided silk tassels to the top and lower borders.
