A Manchu noblewoman's apricot ground embroidered dragon robe

Late Qing dynasty
The orange-rose ground with side openings displaying nine four-clawed dragons worked in couched gilt threads and set amid cloud scrolls, bats and shou medallions worked in shades of blue, red and white above a tall and brilliantly colored lishui border, the added neck band, sleeve bands and horseshoe cuffs of black silk embroidered with dragons and waves in similar gilt and polychrome threads.
