An imperial embroidered yellow silk ground throne seat cushion cover
Qing dynasty, 18th/19th century
Of horizontal rectangular format with rounded corner, finely worked in couched gold threads and satin stich in various colors with a central reserve framing nine five-clawed dragons undulating through clouds surrounding the Buddhist emblems and auspicious bats and peaches, above a typical border of terrestrial peaks and crashing waves, the outer frieze with densely embroidery work of leafy lotus scroll and bats; the reverse backed in yellow silk woven with linzhi heads and floral roundels.
