Lot 1206

1852 $20
Bright and lustrous yellow-gold with a pronounced olive cast throughout. The strike is quite sharp and the luster is unbroken across the highpoints of the design. Warmly toned but still showing satiny frost, the coin is clearly original with its soft golden color throughout. A dampened impression one so often finds on No Motto twenties (from a weak impression of the dies that made this denomination) is absent here; instead, rather than being halfhearted, this particular coin's design is boldly crisp. This example is visually pleasing and worthy of a strong bid. (PCGS 8906)
