The Most Honourable Order of the Bath, C.B., Commander's neck badge in silver-gilt and enamel; 1939-1945 Star; Atlantic Star; Africa Star; Burma Star; War Medal; Coronation 1953; Greece, Medal for Military Merit, with silver wreath. Mounted as worn, the C.B. in Collingwood box of issue. Generally very fine. (8)

Rear Admiral William John Yendell was born on 29th December 1903, he was educated at R.N. Colleges Osborne and Dartmouth. He qualified as a Gunnery Officer in 1929. Commander 1937; Captain 1945. Commanded H.M. Ships, Bittern 1938, Shah 1943-5, Glasgow 1950, Superb 1950. Served as Director of Naval Ordnance 1951-54. Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Warfare) 1954-57. Naval A.D.C. 1954-57.
