For conspicuous gallantry, when he remained in an exposed position on the parapet of a captured enemy trench and threw bombs for upwards of six hours, thus assisting to prevent a counter-attack.

Lance Sergeant Frank Wotton Eastlake enlisted at Camberwell. He was killed in action on 23rd May 1916, and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial. He was the son of Mr and Mrs R.A.Westlake of 62 Arlingford Road, Brixton. He had been a Library Assistant at Holborn Public Library.
