The lot includes his 3 original MID certificates, Log Books (4) covering the period September 1924 to November 1954. Dress hat. Notebook from Iraq etc. Letter from the Minister of Aeronautics, Peru.

Group Captain Finch joined the RAF in 1924, he served in Iraq between Febuary and June 1931, then to Nasiriyah until March 1933 then to the Persian Gulf until June. He returned to the UK and served at Filton, Peterbrough and Wittering. He was then based at Uxbridge with No10 Group from March 1940 until April. Then served with the BEF as O.C. of 63 Wing. Returning to the UK in June he returns to No.10 group and then is attached to Fighter Command at Stanmore. He leaves them in December 1941 to join No.9 Group at Preston until May 1943 and then on to Algiers at H.Q. N.A.C.A.F.. In January 1944 he rejoins 63 Wing at MACAF until September and then to 340 Wing at Aix-En-Provence until April 1945. After a brief spell with HQ MAAF at Caserta in Italy he goes to Palestine with 285 Wing from November 1945 to March 1946. He returns to the UK after a brief spell at Sedes Salonika, he then is Air Attache at H.M. Embassy Lima, Peru. from February 1949 until February 1952. He finally serves as C.O. of RAF Manston from June 1952 to May 1955.
