Rifleman Walter Paterson Easton was born at Ecclefechan, he contracted Tuberculosis and emigrated from Plymouth to New Zealand. He joined the NZEF and became a Lewis Gunner. He was killed in action on 16.11.1917 and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
