Footnotes

D.C.M. London Gazette 3.9.1918.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during a hostile attack. After the troops holding part of a line had retired he remained in action with his machine gun, although holding an isolated position, and continued to keep their skirmishers in check. When the enemy pressed their attack he brought his gun into action in the open, doing great execution, and giving time for a line to be organised further back.

Research shows that he is entitled to the BWM and Victory pair only, and that he was wounded on 26.3.1918. Sold with copied research including MIC.

Private Henry James King Cat Rae died on 22.12.1914, aged 26. He is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial.
