The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, O.B.E., 1st type, Military Division; 1914-15 Star (Dent. Surg. H.J.Corin. R.N.V.R.); British War and Victory Medal with MID Oakleaf (Dent. Surg. Lt. H.J.Corin. R.N.V.R.); Belgium, Order of the Crown, breast badge, with palme. Mounted as worn with corresponding miniatures. Some enamel damage to the last, otherwise almost extremely fine. (Lot)

The lot comes with Warrant for appointment to Dental Surgeon in the R.N.V.R. dated 1.4.1915, M.I.D. certificate, Warrant for the O.B.E. in envelope, Warrant for the Belgian Order of the Crown. Copy of the entry in the newspaper relating to his MID, copy of a photograph of him in RAF uniform, box for the OBE and a photograph album from WW1 with a variety of good period photographs.

Herbert John Corin was born in 1880, he qualified at Guys Dental School in 1900 and around 1910 had his own private practice at 9 Old Burlinton Street, London W1 (this is confirmed as the envelope for the OBE confirms this address). He became an Honorary Dental Surgeon with the RNVR attached to the RNAS, finishing as a Major in the Royal Air Force. He would travel from Dover to La Panne in Belgium to work on servicemen with facial injuries and was also personal dentist to the Belgian King who lived at La Panne during the war. He was a founder member of the Royal Aero Club, and had a number of high profile clients at is London practice including the Duke of Westminster, Princess Alice and the Earl of Athlone.
