Rolo began visiting the Haysom Ward Miller Architects office following the death of his lifelong pal, Morris the lurcher. Despite being quite a nervous dog at times, Rolo soon settled in with his office humans, and it became clear that the back of a chair was his chosen spot for a nap.
This informed the conception of this ultra-comfortable kennel, as did Rolo's height - an active partaker in office life, but challenged in the leg length department, the house was designed to provide a warm comfortable elevated bed where Rolo can feel part of the team, but also enjoy a snooze in private.
As an architect's dog he is very design aware and is a huge Eames and Mad Men fan, so with this in mind – and the practice's commitment to sustainability - the decision was made to upcycle an office chair, adding a low embodied energy timber house with its own period-appropriate office drinks cabinet. It can be rotated to follow the sun, and tucked away when visitors come to call.
