Footnotes

西藏 約十五世紀 彩繪鎏金藥師佛銅像

Identified by the medicinal myrobalan fruit being proffered by his right hand, Bhaishajyaguru is popular across all schools of Tibetan art. The use of polychrome on metal sculpture is unusual within the Himalayan tradition and is most commonly found in Mongolia in the 19th century. However, the treatment of the lotus petals, robes, and facial type are consistent with Newari work in Nepal and Tibet during the 14th-16th centuries and suggests the sculpture may have been transferred to Mongolia at a later date.
