Nike X Futura: Dunk High Pro SB 'Unkle'
01/09/2004
Also known as the "D.U.N.K.L.E" (Dunk/Unkle), this is a pair that was created in collaboration with one of today's greatest contemporary artists, Futura 2000. The shoe features his drawings and one of Futura 2000's most famous characters, "Pointman". The pair was released to coincide with the release of UNKLE's album "Never Never Land Revisited", for which Futura 2000 designed the cover. This pair, different from the others, is sought after by discerning collectors. In Paris and in France, the "UNKLE" was only sold in two shops in very small quantities (about fifty pairs per shop: Colette and Opium Paris). Nike SB (Skateboarding) sneakers were officially launched in 2002 with the creation of the Skate Department by the late Sandy Bodecker. They are part of the so-called 'Golden Era' of sneakers and are one of the most sought-after early limited and collaborative editions of the skateboarding division.
The Nike Dunk is an almost identical model to the Air Jordan 1, designed at the same time (1985) by the same designer, Peter Moore.
The Dunk SB is a more skate friend pair than the Dunk with a thicker tongue (Fat Tong) and larger laces (Fat Laces). Today, while still popular with skateboarders, this pair has conquered the street and the trendiest sneaker collectors.
