Sherri Cohen is a Head of Business Development, North America, and Vice President of the Valuations, Trusts and Estates Department. Since joining Bonhams in 2016, Cohen has brought many important collections to market including Dr. Teruo Hirose's Yayoi Kusama collection, L. D. 'Brink' Brinkman's Western Art collection, and Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans Foundation's American Art collection.
Cohen is a dual US and UK qualified attorney with decades of art market experience. She works with fiduciaries and families to develop creative strategies to value and sell all kinds of property from fine art and Asian art to jewelry and rare books.
She is a member of several professional, museum and philanthropic organizations such as the Estate Planning Council of New York City, Inc. (board member), STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners); PAIAM (Professional Advisors to the International Art Market), New York-Historical Society's Planned Giving Advisory Council, and UJA's Crisis to Stability and Trusts & Estates Group Committee.
Before joining Bonhams, Cohen underwrote art title insurance, handled Nazi-looted art cases and was an associate at Jones Day, a top international law firm. She earned a BA (double-majoring in Art History and Political Science) from Emory University, where she is still an active member on the alumni college board, and a JD from American University.
