Amy Thompson is Director for Post-War & Contemporary Art at Bonhams. Based in Chicago, she connects midwestern and international collectors with exceptional artworks from around the world.
Since joining in 2014, Amy has held numerous positions at Bonhams, including Specialist and Head of Sale for our Post-War & Contemporary Art auctions in London and New York, before being promoted to her current role in 2019. Among her exceptional sales are previously unseen works by Yayoi Kusama from collection of the late Dr Teruo Hirose, the artist's doctor. The auction achieved 'white glove' status, with every lot sold and exceeded the low estimate by 171%.
Before Bonhams, Amy worked at another major international auction house. She has also held positions at the Corcoran Museum of Art, Washington, and the Royal Academy of Arts, London. Amy studied Art History and Dance at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where she was a Presidential Scholar in the Arts.
