Adam Stackhouse

Adam Stackhouse is a Specialist in the Fine Books and Manuscripts Department at Bonhams in San Francisco. He joined the department in 1997 and was promoted to Specialist in 2001. His areas of expertise include printed books, maps, manuscripts, historical photography and original illustration art as well as three-dimensional technological items. He currently heads the History of Science and Technology auction and the Space History sale.

Stackhouse has handled such collections as the Papers of Donald Albert Hall, Chief Engineer on the Spirit of St. Louis project and the M.B. Goldstone Collection of Literature and Printed Americana. He was instrumental in the cataloging and sale of the Lloyd Ostendorf Collection of Lincolniana, A Library of Hawaii and the South Pacific and The American Experience: 1630-1890. More recently, he was responsible for the sale of a full-scale Sputnik-1 test model, which achieved $847,500 and a violin belonging to Albert Einstein, that sold for $516,500.

Stackhouse, who was born and raised in Pennsylvania, received his BA in Creative Writing from the University of Southern California. He has also completed coursework in Book Illustration at the California Rare Book School at the University of California at Los Angeles.
