Chris Dawson is the Department Director of Modern British and Irish Art, with more than a decade of specialist experience in his area of expertise. He joined the Modern British & Irish Art team at Bonhams in 2007 having previously worked for both Sotheby's and Christie's, where he latterly co-ordinated valuations for high net worth clients. Chris has played a significant role in the development of the department and built lasting relationships with important collectors.

Chris Dawson's particular career highlights include negotiating the sale of Paul Nash's A Drawing which set a new auction record for the artist at £212,500, and involvement with some of the most prominent private collections to come onto the market in recent years, such as C.S. Reddihough and property from the Estate of Benedict Read. In his role as Department Director, Chris travels throughout the U.K. and internationally, as well as supporting his colleagues in Edinburgh by strengthening business for the Scottish sales, for which he has contributed several high value collections and Colourist works. He has a particular interest in the art of the First and Second World War and regularly contributes catalog essays on this subject.

Chris holds an Honors degree in History and a Masters degree in History of Art, for which he received a distinction in his examination of the London Art market in the 19th Century.
