Darren Sutherland is a specialist in the Fine Books and Manuscripts department at Bonhams New York. He started in the rare book trade in 1996 and spent 20 years pursuing rare and valuable books and manuscripts for two successful booksellers.
Since joining Bonhams, Darren has been instrumental in the successful sale of Sir Isaac Newton's manuscript on the Philosopher's Stone for $275,000, as well as coordinating the pioneering sale of the Steve Wozniak-designed blue box for $125,000. In 2018, he produced the sale of World of Hilary Knight, including the recently rediscovered portrait of the world-famous character, Eloise. Additionally, he handled the outstanding sale of George Washington's Court Martial of General Charles Lee, with other Properties from a Private New England Estate.

Darren possesses a wide range of expertise, from Americana and early literature to modern first editions and contemporary artist books. He has provided commentary on the book markets for numerous publications, including Esquire and the Wall Street Journal.
