Celeste Smith is a Director of Bonhams Trusts and Estates Department, serving as the primary point of liaison within the Estate Planning Community to promote Bonhams services for valuations and auctions. Based in San Francisco, she assists Bonhams clients including fiduciaries, trustees and Trusts and Estates attorneys in navigating the process of valuations for estate tax appraisals, family distribution listings and auction listings, helping each client through every step of the auction process.

Celeste's most important role at Bonhams is working with the global team of experts, providing clients with superior knowledge and expertise in the areas of collectibles. Notable examples include, a bronze statue of Diana by Paul Howard Manship, sold in 2016 for $727,500 including premium, and a natural pearl and diamond drop pendant, sold in 2017 for $1.45 million, the highest price paid for a natural pearl at auction in the last eight years.

With 20 years of art business experience, Celeste started working in the auction sector in 1999 in various speciality departments including Rugs and Carpets, Native American Art, Books and Manuscripts and Entertainment Memorabilia. She worked as a gallery director and manager for galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico as well as a Marketing Research consultant for auctions. She has a passion for ceramics and worked as the Trade Specialist for a world class ceramics and lifestyle business before returning to the Auction world in 2011.

Celeste holds a B.A. in Studio Art (with an emphasis on Ceramics and Photography) from Scripps College, California, having graduated in 1999, and is also a Certified Level one Sake specialist.
